“Less than poor”
Check In : where the payment process wasn't working. The staff asked me [and others] to cancel the booking and the "payment on the day" and change it to "pay the hotel". This would have resulted in losing my booking and, no doubt, the room cost would have increased. The old entrance to the hotel is now closed from the outside, although once in possession of a room key, it can be used. On entry, the customer now has to go further down the street to check in. The whole check in process has been changed to push customers into using qr codes and filling in forms on an app. What happens if the customer hasn't got an appropriate device? Then I had to show proof of who I was [more on this later]. This is Manchester, on a Friday afternoon/evening and it was busy. Combined with the check in payment issue, the whole process took far too long and the queues got longer. I made the booking with my UK Bank details and all of my appropriate personal information. I'm not happy at then having to prove who I am. This new set up at the hotel is different from 2025 and if that's what they regard as progress, it's worrying to wonder what regress looks like. I won't be staying there again; it was a shambles; and finally, employ staff who speak English!
