The place is a tiny 10‑room boutique with a super helpful team, free fruit and mini‑bar, and a sweet turn‑down service that even includes lollipops. The only downside? The road is too narrow for cars, so you have to walk or take a buggy, and breakfast was a bit repetitive over the four days. Also, because the hotel sits in a protected heritage site, the courtyard can get a bit crowded with photo‑hungry visitors, but that’s just the nature of the place.

Staying here felt like a cozy retreat in a beautiful Chinese garden. The staff made it extra special by checking in daily and serving a warm supper every night, which was a real comfort in the cold. I actually started looking forward to dinner each evening.

The old Chinese garden and the renovated estate are gorgeous – the décor is beautiful, the food is top‑notch and the staff really go out of their way to help. Getting there with big suitcases is a pain, though, because taxis can’t turn into the narrow side street where the hotel sits about 80 m in. Call ahead; they’ll send a small cart to fetch you from the road. Communication is tricky unless you have a translation app.

Staff were friendly and eager to help, and the little courtyard was a quiet, pretty spot that felt exactly like the boutique garden hotel I imagined. In summer the mosquitoes were relentless and the breakfast was just okay. The grounds are modest in size, nicely kept, but you don’t get a lot of bang for your buck.
