The setting is nice and the studio is cozy; Bridget and John were exceptionally kind and helpful, going above and beyond what I expected. At first there was no hotplate for cooking, but Bridget bought a double burner, which made cooking a lot easier.

The space was great and within walking distance of two beaches, and we were thrilled that we could bring our two dogs along.

The room was very comfortable, with a terrace in a quiet neighbourhood; the kettle and fridge were handy. The hosts were lovely, especially Bridget who welcomed us warmly and gave great tips on walks to see kiwis, even providing red lights. The beach is a 2‑minute walk away and Russell Village is a 3‑minute drive.

The host was very helpful and obliging, and it’s hard to find a place that will take a dog and still be clean and comfortable. The room had a noticeable musty smell, but we thought it might be because it wasn’t used much in winter.

The location was fantastic, right next to the township of Russell. The mattress was awful, and the shower was so small that you could barely move in it—both need upgrading for the price.
