“Zafa pero no volvería”
The view from the upper rooms was nice. Everything else was uncomfortable, especially the bathroom; the infrastructure was bad. Mary tried to overcharge me (typical gaucho trick). I wouldn’t return.

The price‑quality ratio was solid and Mary kept communication clear and helpful. The location was a bit far and uphill, which felt most noticeable when returning from tours around the plaza.

The proximity to the historic centre and Mary’s assistance with booking colectivos were great, and the shower had hot water. However, the shower clogged inexplicably, causing water to stagnate, and it was somewhat pricey compared to other spots.

The place was really cozy, with plenty of blankets for the cold. The kitchen was simple but had the basics to cook during our two‑night stay, and we could keep our luggage while visiting Machu Picchu and return to it later. The floors creak a lot and the walls are thin, so it can be a bit noisy.

Mary is a super nice host who does her best to make the stay pleasant. We came from Cusco for a six‑day jungle trip and were able to leave part of our luggage with her for free. The kitchen is simple and lacks a vent, so cooking large meals isn’t very practical, but the location is otherwise perfect. San Blas is, in our opinion, the best neighborhood to stay in! Washing dishes can only be done with cold water, so the kitchen cabinets often still had semi‑dirty dishes. Maybe a clean sponge more often would help, but that’s also partly the other hostel guests’ responsibility.
