I snagged a budget room with the best view in Nusa Penida—ocean from the balcony, deck on the water, a quiet spot, helpful hosts, spotless, and the breakfast blew my mind. If you want to feel the ocean, this is the place. It’s definitely not for party or nightlife crowds.

Staying at Malibu Huts was amazing; the family owners were warm and welcoming, the hut’s view was breathtaking, and the complimentary breakfast was simple but satisfying. We did have to use bottled water for brushing teeth because of the saltwater, but otherwise everything was fine.

At first we had mixed feelings because of somewhat stiff communication via messages, which turned out to be mainly a language barrier; in reality the owners are incredibly kind and eager to help. The accommodation is basic but has a good (and essential) air‑conditioning unit. Everything is functional, though there are small improvement points like a loose outlet or a door mat that could use a fresh look. The view of the ocean from the east side is fantastic, and while we don’t get a sunset, we do see a breathtaking sunrise over Lombok and Gunung Agung in Bali. In short, it’s a warm, local stay with a great view, perfect for those who aren’t too critical and just want to enjoy the vibe and location. During our stay there was almost no wind, so the veranda got quite warm. In our hut there was no sunshade, which didn’t help much. Additionally, a few simple fixes such as a working outlet, a new toilet seat, and a fresh bath mat would instantly upgrade the hut.

The view is really great, and we were taken free to a beach club and received an extra hut because the 4‑person room didn’t have air‑conditioning. There were holes in unused ceilings and towels, overall cleanliness was lacking, the tap water was salty, and Wi‑Fi was spotty at times.
