The pub was lovely, the room was excellent, and the food was fabulous.

The location was great, but the service during check‑in and dinner was very poor, especially for the price and for being hotel guests. Priority seemed to go to other tables, forcing us to go to the bar for drinks and to collect menus. The rooms were nice (very hot, we stayed during a heatwave), but for the price I expected breakfast to be included. When we asked, we were quoted £5.00 more than the email said, so we checked out early and went to a lovely café a few doors down.

The bed was great—a superb mattress. The room had a previous guest’s clothes in the wardrobe and rubbish in the bin, including dog food sachets, making it feel like the previous guests might return any minute. Very uncomfortable. We told the manager in the morning; he promised to look into it and get back to us, but he never did. We left in the morning and never heard from The Greyhound, and it’s been weeks now.
