The lift access through the well shaft was fantastic; the castle itself is modern yet keeps its old charm. The rooms were cozy with a dreamy view of the town, breakfast was good, and the staff were nice. I highly recommend taking a few minutes for the historical tour.

The place is a real gem for a night out. From the castle rooms you get a fantastic view of the town, and since the castle was rebuilt from the ruins in 1936, the modern furnishings in the rooms cleverly blend the “new castle” with contemporary style. The lift and staircase in the well shaft are also impressive—an excellent design choice. We had nothing to complain about.

The exterior is an imposing castle, while inside it’s tastefully and modernly decorated, which left us completely wowed. There’s a museum on the castle grounds that covers the history of Schulenburg, plus plenty more to explore. Unfortunately, we were on the Goldsteig trail and could only stay for one night. Nothing else to note.

The location is simply perfect, and the view from the upper rooms is gorgeous. Staying in the castle feels like an experience in itself, and the elevator gets you everywhere quickly. Everything is comfortable yet still keeps that castle vibe.

Sleeping on a castle and exploring it was an extraordinary experience. The only issue was hunting down the tiny hidden Wi‑Fi password in the room—what a luxury problem!
