We had a wonderful stay at this pub/guest house. A special thank you to the two young waitresses – I can’t remember their names – who explained the menu in detail and happily made different potatoes for us. The dining experience was fantastic, with home‑cooked food that was freshly served and delicious. The room had a lovely view. We’ll definitely be back. The only issue was the noisy children in the next room while we were trying to sleep.

The location was great, just minutes from the sea by car. Though we didn’t get the room we thought we’d booked, the bed was comfortable, the bedding was nice, there were good refreshments in the room, and the bathroom was clean and a good size. The staff we met were friendly. We had booked a front‑facing room with a view of the church and sea, but we were given a room at the back of the hotel overlooking rubbish such as slabs and piles of leftover wood. When we asked about it the next morning (we didn’t bother before because we were only staying overnight) we were told that if we had booked straight with the hotel we could have requested a front‑facing room, but even though the picture showed a front‑facing room when we booked, you just get put at the back! The room was clean in the obvious places, but the top of the wardrobe was thick with dust (I mistakenly put something on there!) and pulling the bedside cabinet forward to plug in a charger revealed more dust. The bar area is dark and untidy. We didn’t try breakfast after reading some of the reviews. The Windmill Inn could be really good if more attention was given to the detail.

At the back of our room, on a grass bank, a pile of dumped wood looked like an eyesore, making the deck view unpleasant, and paving slabs leaned against the wall.

The view from the room was beautiful and the terraces were cute; breakfast was amazing and surprisingly cheap for a hotel.
