Expect corporate headquarters, extensive canal paths, and authentic regional dining.

Tex-Mex, South Asian corridors, and steakhouse dining

Irving reflects its demographic shifts through its dining corridors. Belt Line Road contains a high concentration of South Asian restaurants in North Texas, serving regional Indian, Pakistani, and Nepalese cuisine. Las Colinas caters to corporate expense accounts with prime steakhouses and upscale dining along Lake Carolyn. South Irving retains long-standing Tex-Mex establishments where brisket tacos and house-made salsa dominate daily lunches.

A short history

Founded in 1903 by J.O. Schulze and Otis Brown, Irving began as a modest stop along the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. The city incorporated in 1914 and remained a quiet agricultural center until the mid-20th century. The opening of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in 1974 transformed Irving into a major corporate center, led by the construction of the master-planned Las Colinas development.
