“Magic”

The hotel blew our expectations out of the water with its little touches, stylish decor, top‑quality bathrooms, and the warm welcome we received. It’s a real gem! The only downside was that the second bed felt a bit uncomfortable.

The location was great and the staff were friendly, though some seemed under‑trained and spoke little German. The value for money was poor; we paid almost 200.- for a small room with worn, partially broken furnishings. The rooms were unheated, and ours had a stove‑fire but only a tiny window that let in dry, bad air. Breakfast tables from the previous night were sometimes unclean, the bread was still frozen, and the cutlery wasn’t spotless—quite disappointing. We could have gotten a lot more for the price, so we won’t return. We might have been more forgiving for a lower rate, but not this.

The place was absolutely fabulous, tucked right in the heart of the beautiful Gasterntal valley. After exploring Lake Oeschinensee, I walked from the Waldhaus/Gasterntal stop to the hotel, and that walk alone was an amazing experience. The valley, mountains, river, waterfalls, and scenery were breathtaking. Arriving at this authentic hotel surrounded by such grand nature felt simply magical—a true escape and a timeless pause. Nothing stood out as off; the experience was exactly what I wanted: authenticity, calm, and complete immersion in the mountains.
