The value was excellent, and this place felt like a special, aristocratic escape that transported me through time; it was my second stay and everything was perfect.

The interior, exterior and grounds were beautiful, and the bed was comfortable with huge rooms. However, the HVAC system had been out of service for so long that plaques above the thermostat warned us that fans and space heaters were in the armoire; with the room temperature hitting 80 degrees by 10 p.m., a fan did little, so we opened the windows—though without screens it wasn’t ideal.

The staff were very nice and helpful, but the temperature rose higher than I liked, even though there was a fan.
