We could walk to the Philharmonie and the room was a decent size, and the value for money was good, but the room smelled of smoke all night and everything we brought in carried that odor the next day.

The hotel’s spot next to the Philharmonie, the helpful staff, and the tidy room were all great, and we also loved the free candy bar and the pet‑friendly policy.

The location suited my needs for visiting the Philharmonie Essen for two consecutive nights; the concert hall is just a few minutes’ walk away. Parking is also convenient, just up the hill near the Folkwang Museum. Breakfast was pretty good and most days it wasn’t extremely busy.
