“Great host, great accommodations !!!”
Quiet, peaceful, great breakfast and the host is awesome. We stayed there because it was close to a citizenship ceremony we were attending. Looking forward to return in the fall for bird photography

Nice simple rooms. Not fancy but fitting for a former dude ranch. Very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious!. The dude ranch vibe was cool. Wish they could open the bar

We loved this beautiful and historic property. The grounds were delightful; we loved the courtyard and covered walkways with benches, so there are many places to relax and watch birds. Rooms were very comfortable. Walking access to the Anza trail was a big bonus. Breakfast was very good! Two suitcase holders would be a nice touch, and cleaning of rooms could be a little more thorough.

Rancho Santa Cruz sits on the Anza Trail and feels like a secluded escape that still feels welcoming. The hosts do a great job of blending privacy with community vibes, and the breakfast that comes with the stay is tasty and served in good company. If you’re traveling with a group, there’s plenty of indoor and outdoor space to gather. Birdwatchers and walkers will appreciate the direct access to the Anza Trail right behind the property, and the bench outside your room—under the portal—lets you watch hummingbirds and vermilion flycatchers without leaving the comfort of your room. Tubac is a short hop for lunch, shopping, or a visit to the Presidio historic site, museum, or Tucamacori Mission, and in spring the nearby Hawk Watch International site is a bonus for birders. The only drawback is the highway noise; the ranch sits in a valley where traffic from the major produce corridor between Mexico and the U.S. echoes off the surrounding mountains. Inside the rooms, however, the insulation keeps the noise to a minimum, and after a while it fades into the background, leaving the hosts’ hospitality and the overall setting to shine.

Josh was an excellent host who took the time to show us around and share the property’s history, which was genuinely fascinating. He also prepares a fantastic breakfast, and the grounds are lovely. The pool feels refreshingly brisk.
