The game‑watching setup was great, but the room lacked a fridge and a kettle.

Delightfully tucked away in the thornybush reserve, the lodge has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the game drives were outstanding and the food was fabulous. The shower leaked a bit and the sink was cracked but that wasn’t really an issue. It was cold at night / in the mornings though and while the hot water bottle put into the bed was very much appreciated, you might want to think about some heating on a timer

The place was extremely calm, with animals visible from the pool deck. The food was good and the service excellent, so I strongly recommend it. I can’t think of any negatives.

Breakfast was the best meal of the day, while the other meals were just average. It’s pricey to stay there, so remember to budget for all the tips; the liquor is also very expensive—especially for us South Africans. Some of the tents are quite close to one another, and the couple in the neighboring tent were very loud.
