The place is very central to Blackwood, with a lovely layout, plenty of space, and a fantastic shower. The stairs are easy to climb, and there’s no extra fee for the dog, which was a bonus. Unfortunately, the washing machine was broken, even though the host offered to do our laundry (I declined). The beds are soft but not the most comfortable; I slept with one duvet underneath to make it easier to get some sleep. I would have appreciated the fresh juice, croissants, and yogurt that other guests mention for breakfast, but all I got was basic bread, butter, jam, and cereals. It might help to add a larger rug or two on the laminate floor to reduce noise transfer between flats.

The room was warm and comfortable, the shower was great, and the facilities were good for a self‑catering stay. The room above my Moon room had a creaking floor and needed more sound insulation. The guest staying there moved furniture around at 1 am, and I was woken again when it was put back to its original position.

Blackwood isn’t the most beautiful town in the Brecon Beacons, but it’s a great central spot to explore the area. The apartment was spacious, well equipped, parking was free and easy. When the washing machine broke down, our host did our laundry for us—thanks a lot for that. The apartment was a bit poorly insulated and the mattresses were too soft for us. We didn’t share breakfast with the host or other guests; cereals, fruit, and other items were brought daily and we made our own meals.
