“Viel zu heiß und unfreundlicher Gastgeber”
We liked the location the most. We booked a room without air conditioning, but when the room was shown to us, all windows were closed and the fan was off. We immediately asked if we could add AC (it would cost an extra 2000), and it seemed as though the staff had deliberately made the room warmer. The sons of the owner were very friendly and worldly, unlike their father. When he asked where we were from and we said Germany, he seemed a bit odd. Because we didn’t have dinner at the property, the situation felt even stranger. We were also charged more—he said “almost 3000 LKR for one night,” but it should have been only 2860 LKR, which we found disappointing. We have never slept so poorly; it was far too hot. As advertised, there was no Wi‑Fi or soap. There was only one towel for two people.

The owner and family were extremely friendly and offered plenty of local tips. We had booked a month-long stay as a base to travel around, so we didn’t need to return daily and could use other hotels. Upon arrival, we were told our stay had increased by $50 without any prior notice from the host. It was advertised as beachfront, but the beach is about 150 m away across a busy road. The photos in the listing are very old and don’t match the actual condition of the place. The room and private bathroom were dirty, so we had to buy cleaning supplies. The beds had 3‑inch mattresses that offered no comfort.
The staff are nice people and the room was very clean. It’s very close to a beautiful beach. The room and towel had a moldy smell.

The ensuite room was comfortable, with a fan and air conditioning. The staff were very kind and helpful when I arrived late at night. It’s basic but offers great value, and it’s right near the beach!
