The view was nice, the staff were friendly, the place was clean and tidy. It felt a bit dated but overall fine.

The accommodation was beautiful with a great facility where you can see many animals. There’s a trail that lets you discover a lot, but you’re only allowed to walk the trail over the river with a guide. You have to be careful not to get a room near the road because it’s very noisy; ours had a river view that was super beautiful. The pool looked unclean, circulation didn’t run during the day, and the terrace only had two chairs even though the room was for four. Food at the al a Card Restaurant was pricey and somewhat bland, with almost no spices.

The view from my room was great, the maintenance was solid, and the conservation of nature in Selva Verde was evident.

“A slice of paradise in the rainforest , next to the Sarapiquí river , with wildlife galore”

The lodge feels like a wildlife paradise, with an incredible amount and variety of bird life, and the grounds feature ground‑level and raised walkways, an atmospheric vaulted restaurant area, beautifully refurbished rooms offering river or forest views, a hammock outside to relax and listen to the birds, a nice pool, and access via lodge guides to a huge tract of private rainforest over the hanging bridge across the Saraquipi River. It was wonderful.

We really liked this hotel two years ago when we first visited Costa Rica. This year we wanted to come back because we had a great time in 2024, but this time it was a total letdown compared to what we expected. The hotel failed to notify us about changes to the tours we booked, and trying to reach reception was impossible—no one answered. The laundry damaged a garment and they never mentioned it; I had to notice it only after I was already elsewhere. It’s not about the item itself, just that it costs nothing to say.
