“This is how it should be! An example to others…”
Staying here was a delight thanks to the cheerful, helpful staff who went above and beyond. The location is peaceful, and the free transport to town takes about 20–25 minutes depending on traffic. Rooms are clean, well‑equipped, and even come with an umbrella. The town itself isn’t the main attraction; you’re in Semporna for the islands, snorkeling, and scuba. If you visit the wet market between 4–6 pm, you can pick up fresh seafood, bring it back, and have it cooked for you for about £6 per kilogram. Diving in SipaDan requires an advanced certification, and a day permit costs roughly £180 for three snorkel sessions or £200 for three scuba dives with all gear included—booking a week in advance is advised because slots are limited. We tried snorkeling, which turned out pricey, but I did a three‑dive session with Bug Fin for £80 on Mabel and another island; the team was excellent, though the coral there isn’t as impressive as in SipaDan.
On the downside, I wish the hotel’s bird had a better home, and a plunge or swimming pool would be nice since island trips cover most of the fun. Thanks to all the staff, especially Karen the songbird.
