“Cosy!!”
Having stayed in seven Australian hostels, this one is my favorite. It’s a smaller hostel, giving it a family‑like, homely vibe. Thoughtful design adds soul, and it feels genuinely like a hostel. It’s great for solo travellers on short stays, while long‑term guests are friendly and actually say “hello.” In other hostels I’ve met long‑term WHV guests who are moody and unwelcoming, but here they’re very nice—smiles are free and powerful! The owners and manager are kind, approachable, and chatty, creating a positive atmosphere. They’re helpful with information about the hostel, Cairns, or travel. Tim, an Arsenal fan, is a top guy. The stay was very relaxing and peaceful, with quiet evenings and a very comfy bed that let me sleep great each night. A rare hostel feature is a freezer. There’s ample space to dry clothes and many spots to relax. Yoga mats are provided, and there’s a dumbbell (hidden by the washing line) that I used one day for a workout (15 kg with plates, I think), saving me $20 on a gym day pass. Highly recommend this excellent hostel!
