Motel Port in Koper, housed within the University of Primorska’s residence, sits 300 m from the city center. Its air‑conditioned apartments feature private bathrooms, work desks, and fully equipped kitchenettes. Guests enjoy a 24‑hour front desk, free public parking, and proximity to the 15th‑century Praetorian Palace, Loggia, Super Nova mall, and Koper beach.

The young staff at the reception were very friendly and spoke excellent English. There are too few parking spots for a motel, which is surprising. You have to watch closely in the evenings to find a spot. There is a large parking lot behind the building, but motel guests cannot use all of it. Often the reserved spots are taken at night. I accidentally parked on a spot that didn’t belong to the motel and received a €25 fine. Other guests should be careful.

It was the cheapest option in all of Koper, or at least in the area. There wasn’t much to choose from. Surprisingly, I found out on the spot that it’s basically a dormitory. As someone used to Central European dorms, this one is pleasantly handled in a simple style. The rooms had air conditioning (at least ours did). There was a large common room, a kitchen, a well-equipped bathroom, probably underfloor heating and air conditioning (who would say that in a dorm). The rooms were “dormitory‑style” – table and chair. It’s not offensive or damaging, but it’s very spacious with plenty of storage. The advantage is nonstop reception, businesses in the basement, and being really close to the station, McDonald’s, a nearby shopping center, parking options, and the center of Koper.

Everything pleased us. Great staff. The motel’s equipment is on par with a Radi level. We’ll come back.
