The location was great, just outside Swellendam, but the final stretch involved an unpaved road with large potholes, which was less pleasant as it got dark during the South African winter. The cottage was tidy but very dated—beds, furniture, kitchen, and bathroom all looked old. The apartment was newer, and we used it only for a night, which was sufficient for a short stay, but we wouldn’t stay there longer.

We recommend trying the Tasting Room on the farm, which offers local products and a true countryside vibe with plenty of animals around and mountain views. The large room included a seating area and a well-equipped kitchenette, and the AC had a heating function. However, we struggled to remove moisture from the apartment, especially the bathroom, and we would have appreciated a hair dryer; the bathroom felt quite dim.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Wildebraam Berry Estate. We were only there for one night, but we would have happily stayed longer. The setting is beautiful and wonderfully peaceful, with horses, ducks, cows, and sheep as our only visible neighbors. We also enjoyed a complimentary liqueur tasting at the farm stall in reception. A picturesque and relaxing stay that recharged the batteries in no time – highly recommended!
