“Cosy room with Rhine view . Let down by a hurried complex check-in and expensive breakfast”
The room felt snug and even had a small balcony overlooking the Rhine, making the old town feel close by; the station, market, and cathedral were all within a stroll. However, the room was only above the restaurant, so there was no lobby or lounge area. The front desk guy seemed hurried and complicated a simple check‑in, insisting on taking our breakfast orders for that evening and setting a specific eating time. Breakfast was decent but pricey, with no guest discount even though they offered 10% off food and drink, and everything was itemised. I ordered eggs Florentine, my wife had granola with yoghurt, and we each had a coffee plus a bottle of cold water, totaling €55. By contrast, the night before in Hamburg at Conrad we enjoyed a buffet with fruits, cheese, croissants, breads, cold meats, espresso, juices, and water for €39 or €46 that day. The breakfast server was very pleasant and calm, and I told her she should handle check‑ins.
