The location and atmosphere of the building were nice, but it’s an old building and you have to go up a spiral staircase; the steps were partly worn and halfway up there was no handrail, so climbing was quite tiring without an elevator.

The 12th-century Abbaye de Maizières, a former Cistercian Abbey, is located in Beaune's historic centre. Traditional guest rooms with antique furniture and private bathrooms are accessed via a spiral staircase. A daily breakfast is served in the vaulted stone cellar. Free WiFi is offered. The hotel is near Notre-Dame Basilica, Hospices de Beaune, and offers wine tours of Cote de Beaune vineyards.

The toilet window was not fixed.

The rooms are not exceptional and the stairs are steep, but the breakfast is very expensive.

The location is good, but the coffee is not French‑style; the cups don’t keep the heat, and there are too many stairs from the third floor down; replace the carpet on that steep staircase.

The location and the very old vaults of the lounge‑dining room are nice, yet the room is cramped, the narrow stairs to the third floor are dangerous, the bed is set back on a mezzanine with narrow stairs, there are two tea bags (one already opened!), two coffee capsules, and no glasses for the bar.
