“Think it would be a great group experience with a few families. It is a great idea and Hester was a lovely host.”

We were two women staying alone, which made us feel unsafe since no other wagons were occupied. The wagons were located outside Orania town, close to the main road, and the road to the wagons wasn’t suitable for our low Corolla. We cancelled our second night and booked a stay in Orania instead. On the bright side, the wagons were a neat idea, and we enjoyed the beautiful sunrise and the firepit.

The accommodation was very warm and comfy, even on cold, rainy days, all under cover. The downside was that the road from the main road to the oxygen was tricky for non‑4x4 cars, becoming very slippery when it rained.

We loved everything: the owner was friendly and helpful with any questions about operating things, the view was amazing, and it’s only 3 km from Orania, making it a convenient break‑away spot—close by but not too close.

It was novel to overnight in an ossewa and to experience the outdoors, sunset and sunrise.
