“One of the best stays I had in Japan!”
Had a great stay! Lovely house in the woods with cozy rooms and a nice onsen you can use. The owner's son runs a café that serves the best matcha and green tea. Highly recommended! Nothing to add.

We were thrilled with our time at Sanrisha, where the owner shared excellent tips and we enjoyed incredible Matcha Lattes at the newly opened café run by his son; it became our launchpad for exploring the Aso region, and we wholeheartedly recommend it.

The coffee the host served was delicious, and the conversations were engaging and enjoyable, making me want to return; the farewell was courteous and the hospitality comforting. I wish the bath hours were a bit longer.

Staying at Sanrinsha was delightful; the owner and his son are welcoming and always ready to help or advise on local activities, and free fresh coffee is available each morning. The guesthouse feels like a cozy mountain lodge filled with intriguing trinkets, and I spotted many clowns—most were harmless except the one on the veranda ;) Hunt them all! Each room has a logbook that dates back to 1985, giving the place a museum vibe where new discoveries await daily. The bathroom is enchanting, and I would strongly recommend it. If I ever return to Kyushu, I’ll definitely come back, hoping the owner, who mentioned he’s almost 80, will still be there. Mosquitoes were a nuisance, but that was our fault, and staying only two nights left me wanting more.
