“A Beautiful Traditional Inn Surrounded by Nature – Fantastic Food and Wonderful People”
We had a fantastic stay at Hanul Vatra, a place where the vibe is just as vital as the lodging itself. The inn feels like an old traditional Romanian establishment with a beautiful historic style, yet it’s modern enough to offer the comforts you expect today. The food deserves special mention: we chose to have all three meals here and were genuinely pleased. For only 65 RON per person per meal, we enjoyed a buffet‑style spread with two main dishes at each meal, plus various sides and other foods. We savored meatballs, soups, omelettes, sausages, eggs, bread, tea, milk, sarmale, different salads, chicken, pork, tomatoes, cucumbers, and several cheeses. The food isn’t fancy or overly sophisticated – that’s what makes it so good. It feels like proper, traditional Romanian fare, prepared simply and tasty. Considering the quality, quantity, and variety, 65 RON per full meal is excellent value. The staff made the experience even better; a big thank you to Dna. Daniela, Dna. Lili, Domnul Bobby, Domnul Neluțu, and everyone else whose names I unfortunately forgot. They were all kind, welcoming, and genuinely nice, making us feel very comfortable. If I missed someone, please accept my apologies – I truly appreciated everyone who looked after us. The location and nature are probably the biggest advantages: a beautiful river/stream runs behind the property, with a small bridge leading across it to a large area of trees and eventually forest. It’s peaceful, green, wild, and incredibly relaxing. You can simply walk around, sit outside, listen to the water, and enjoy nature – a place where you can disconnect from everyday noise and stress. The large grounds are a huge bonus, as other guests have highlighted the stream, garden, and peaceful surroundings, and I completely understand why. Our accommodation was a large, beautiful apartment with two rooms and a very spacious bathroom. There was plenty of space, and we really liked the traditional character of the building. I particularly appreciated how Hanul Vatra preserves that old Romanian inn / early‑1900s house feeling while still incorporating modern necessities. Modern touches such as TVs, ample lighting throughout the corridors – especially useful in the evening and at night – and even an EV charging point in the parking area are present. The large parking area is another big advantage, especially if you’re traveling by car. One small improvement I would strongly recommend: consider installing mosquito nets on the windows and balcony doors. With such a beautiful natural setting next to the river and surrounded by greenery, this would make sense and allow guests to enjoy the fresh air more comfortably, especially during warmer months. It’s a relatively small improvement but would make a noticeable difference. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Hanul Vatra. If you’re looking for a place with character, history, nature, traditional Romanian food, peace, and genuinely welcoming people, this is absolutely worth considering. For us, the combination of the beautiful old‑style building, spacious accommodation, excellent food, wonderful people, large garden, river, and surrounding forest made this a very pleasant and memorable stay. Thank you, Hanul Vatra, for having us!
