Historic Kupfernams, a 1820‑era building in Ventspils’ center, offers stylish rooms with hardwood furnishings, satellite TV, and private showers. Guests dine on a brick‑wall buffet, enjoy a bar’s cold drinks, and can book massages, barber services, or bicycle rentals. Located a 5‑minute walk from the Livonian Order Castle, it blends heritage charm with modern convenience.

The location was good, the hosts were friendly, and the building was pretty. The room was quite drafty and had no heating.

The location is fairly central, not far from the promenade. A wonderful restaurant, Skroderkrogs, is just around the corner. The room was cozy, the building was historic and very beautiful, and the staff were very nice. The bathroom was oddly angled under a slanted ceiling. There was no breakfast or café on the property, but that was probably because I was there in autumn—no problem for me, as they suggested a great nearby option.

We were the only guests, and the breakfast turned out to be surprisingly good. Parking was free right outside the entrance, which was a nice perk. The coffee and tea facilities were appreciated, and the staff were pleasant. The location works well, close to the main street with several excellent restaurants and bars within a 10‑minute walk. The timber‑framed building, several hundred years old, has been tastefully renovated. On the downside, the rooms are smaller than expected; the sloping ceilings and wooden beams leave less than a metre of headroom over the bed and another at the foot, so floor area doesn’t reflect the actual size. The staircase is a bit of a challenge when lugging luggage. There are only four hangers and a hook near the door, so there’s no real place for clothes. The mattress and pillows feel very firm, the shower fitting and toilet seat are broken, and there are no toiletries beyond hand soap and small towels. The bar was closed, so no drinks were available. We only stayed one night, but anyone planning a longer visit might want to look for a hotel with better facilities.

The accommodation has a rich history, was beautifully restored, and converted into a hotel. The rooms are small, but that’s part of the experience and the architecture, which makes them cozy. No complaints.
