We enjoyed the breakfast, the location, the spotless room, and the pool table, but after stepping out to explore the town, we returned to find our bags had been shuffled all over the room—suitcases in the closet, phone chargers in drawers, shoes scattered everywhere. Nothing was missing, yet the sight of our belongings misplaced was unsettling.
