The location is near the main train station, Lindenhof, about a 10‑minute walk, and the reception staff were friendly. Breakfast and a warm dinner were good, and the kitchen staff were courteous. The dining room was large, there was a luggage room for short‑term storage, and lockable lockers were available in the rooms. Toilets were in each room and in the building. The sign for the walk from the station to the youth hostel needed a better spot and a nicer design – it would help guests orient themselves and feel welcomed. Nighttime quiet was repeatedly interrupted between 22:00 and 24:00 by late arrivals, lights on, beds made, and items being stored; better management could help, for example by keeping beds already set or preparing a room for night arrivals. A sticker on the window warned of a mosquito alarm at night when the window was open – a window frame insect screen would improve the air quality. These are just a few comments and suggestions; otherwise the accommodation was fine for me.
The rooms were shared with only three other people, and the bathroom was inside the room. People below our window made a lot of noise, and the staff did nothing to address it, preventing any rest.
I booked last minute for one night and could only find a hotel for a single night, so I paid less for two rooms in a hotel with air conditioning. It was available right away, which helped. With the European temperatures, a small fan would have been friendly and useful – nobody slept because it was so hot.
The surroundings were calm and beautiful, and the station was close by.
“Schöner Trip nach Mannheim”
Breakfast was good and the location was by the water. The price was too high.
