Ferienwohnung Veit

Spacious, comfortable rooms with a well‑equipped kitchenette. We received a 10‑litre box of apple juice from the owner’s orchard (apparently this only happens at the right time of year and if the harvest was good) and were invited to pick plums and apples. The location was quiet but very close to shops and convenient for the station. The owner was friendly and helpful (and spoke much better English than our German). The place is within hiking distance of attractive wooded hills; I set off from the door for a 17 km hike that took me over the border into the Czech Republic and along the remains of the old Schwarzenberg Canal through the woods. We liked everything! The entrance might not be immediately obvious – it isn’t the front door of the address but is through the gate marked “Herzlich willkommen!” (“Many welcomes”) down the entry just to the right of the door.

“Csendes, kényelmes szállás, kedves szállásadókkal.”

A very kind host. A small town, next to a small main square, in a quiet area, a quiet apartment. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. The jam we received from the host was delicious! Thank you! I couldn’t say anything else.

“I came to attend a wedding and to spend time with friends in Aigen and Ulrichsberg. All wonderful.”

The TV was handy and I could watch BBC news, and Frau Veit sent us jam that was delicious. I didn’t eat breakfast. The heat was a problem because there was no air conditioning; with open windows at night, closed curtains, and the quilt removed, I managed to stay somewhat cool for the brief time I spent in the apartment, especially considering the weather and the heatwaves we’re not used to in England.

“Alles in Ordnung”

The place was ideal for a short stay, and the owners were friendly.

The location was good, but the place smelled strongly and was very dusty; the dust sometimes fell from the walls, and the shower had mold. The workmanship in the rooms was sloppy, and the price was far too high for this accommodation. If the price were about half as low, it would have been acceptable, but at this cost the rooms should match the price.
