“This was my first time here and all in all it was a pleasant experience and I would like to come back and stay here agai”

The location near Crescent Ave means everything is just a short walk away, and the staff were unbelievably kind—helping with luggage, letting me work in the office while waiting, and answering every question. I also appreciated the microwave in my room, the private entrance with fewer stairs, and the rooftop deck was amazing. The room itself was small and oddly configured, yet charming in its own way with a small table that had outlets for charging, a cute faux fireplace, blackout curtains, a huge tub, and great pillows.

The staff were very friendly, the room was spotlessly clean, and the bed let me sleep like a baby. Don’t miss the rooftop 360‑degree view of the island.

“Great Old Hotel in the Heart of Avalon”

The first floor was built in 1914 and the upper floor in 1958, so if stairs are an issue it might not suit you—there’s no elevator and the stairs to the second and third floors are steep. Still, we ended up having a great time after we were lucky enough to upgrade from our Dolphin room (8) to the Retreat (7). It was nicely appointed and had the longest tub, letting me stretch out and unwind after a day of walking around Avalon. The best part was the rooftop patio area, which required a few more stairs to reach an even higher level where the penthouse sits. The view from there is fantastic, with tables to sit, drink, eat, and watch golf carts pass by, and you can even spot the Casino building. Michael, who was at the office during our stay, was super helpful. It was the most reasonable lodging on Catalina, and everything feels so far up there. All in all, an enjoyable stay. The only downside is the lack of an elevator, but given the hotel’s size and age, that’s understandable. The Dolphin Room is fine if you’re a single monk.

“This place is outstanding”

This was the cutest little hotel we’ve ever stayed at, and I highly recommend it to anyone. It’s very close to the pier and restaurants, and the rooftop lounge areas are comfy spots to sit outside and enjoy the weather. We didn’t find anything we didn’t like, though if you have trouble with stairs you should request a lower room.
