Yoshi, the host, is fantastic and walks you through every detail. The house contains everything you could possibly need. The only downside is that it sits right next to a busy street, so it can get a bit hectic at night or in the morning.

Everything! The traditional house, the space, the location – all perfect! Yoshi is exceptional, always attentive and caring. Thanks to him, our honeymoon in Kumamoto went wonderfully. Thank you!!!

Yoshi is an amazing host! He greeted us, showed us the house, shared a lot about the area, and answered every question we had. On the table there’s a large folder full of tips and recommendations for restaurants, trips, etc. He even left us a “no‑fault” number in case there were communication problems on the way. The Japanese‑style house is well kept, very comfortable and modernly equipped. There’s a kitchen that has everything you need for cooking, two air‑conditioners, fans, a modern bathroom and toilet. It was very clean, lovingly prepared, and a truly pleasant stay! Thank you, Yoshi! If we ever return to Kumamoto, we’ll choose Sumitsugu House West again!

“Ok for a few days if you don’t mind loud street noises and waking up when the sun is out.”

We liked the location and the washer/dryer was very convenient. Also the host Yoshi was very nice and helped us recommending delicious places to eat and what to see around the area. We didn’t like that it was right on the road so at night it was very noisy, also no blackouts so very bright from very early in the morning and the beds were uncomfortable.
