The rooms were very clean, and the bathroom and shower were top‑class. The only issue was that breakfast was continental, while we had expected a Full English, which turned out to be a mistake.

The location was great and the value for money was solid, with friendly staff. However, the walls were wafer‑thin, and we kept being woken by people in the adjacent room talking through the night and into the early morning. Their voices sounded like they were right next to us, so we didn’t sleep well.

The location was ideal for a group, and the price per person was reasonable. When we arrived, the toilet was blocked and full; a guest asked for help and was told it would be looked at while we were out of the room. The eleven of us couldn’t use the bathroom in our room, so we had to use the one in reception, and it was still not fixed when we came back.

The beds were comfy, the room was clean and a decent size, and the location was convenient for town and university. The walls were paper‑thin, so I could hear every word and even the shrieks of conversations next door. There was no place to make or buy a hot drink, and the reception area offered nothing.

The location was great, but do not pay extra for breakfast. The buffet we were told to help ourselves to consisted of a carton of orange juice, milk, six yoghurts, and a quarter of a box of granola. Coffee was brewing, but no mugs were provided. A toaster was available, but there was no bread. The next thing we saw were two plates of what looked like eggy bread; I tried a bite, and it had a slice of ham, which isn’t ideal for vegetarians. We paid £18 for two orange juices, two yoghurts, and a small bowl of granola. I contacted the hotel, but received no response. They’ll probably reply with a generic thank‑you and apology, but based on their previous reviews, this is just how they handle breakfast.
