“Relaxing”
The room was lovely, spotless, and offered good value; the fridge came stocked with water and juice, and there were excellent tea and coffee options. The bathroom was charming, and the location was very quiet. The village itself is nice and relaxing, and the staff did a great job. I did hear an alarm somewhere in the building—probably an old pub issue that settled down by evening, and I slept fine. A pub is just a one‑minute walk away, which is lovely, though there isn’t much else in the village.
“Not as advertised - nice room, but odd setup.”
It was a relatively nice room, and the fridge was well stocked. This isn’t a working pub, as the advertisement states. There is an odd arrival process, totally devoid of staff and into a closed pub. At 1.15am, someone who had clearly forgotten or lost the arrival instructions rang the doorbell of the pub and then spent a fair while scratching around the various doors. It’s an odd place in a hamlet, and without the Red Lion as a place to eat, devoid of any options other than driving
The decor was nice, the room was comfortable and quiet, and there was nothing negative.
“Very pretty property”
The location was great, parking was easy, and getting to the room was straightforward. The room itself was beautifully decorated. It’s a shame the pub has closed, so I couldn’t eat there; Uber Eats is an option but expect a delay. The duvet was dirty and had no cover.
“Unusual set up”
The room was clean, comfortable, and offered a nice view of the village cross; the bed was cozy and the shower area was fresh. We knew the Red Lion was no longer an inn/pub, so we tried the other village pub but it only served food occasionally, forcing us to drive to a nearby village for meals. We had to break branches off bushes to reach the front door, then fiddle with a door‑button code and a key on a wire to get in, and climb steep stairs to the first‑floor room. The property is unmanned, and we were glad we were the only guests; if the other two rooms were occupied we would have felt uneasy.
