“Horrible.”
There was nothing good to say. Mentioning spiders was a bit of an understatement. We didn’t expect much given the price, but cleanliness is basic. Some of the arthropods were large enough to be mistaken for bumblebees, and the bathroom was also full of them and their webs. We first asked the manager for an insecticide and tried to clean the room ourselves; seeing the bathroom in the same condition, we decided to move. The staff smiled and told us they wouldn’t refund us, saying they could offer another room, but we pointed out the shared bathroom had the same issue. They simply said that in the English countryside it’s normal to have such visitors in rooms. I don’t know if they truly believe that, but after staying over a week in various places, we had never seen such a level of dirt (spider webs behind the beds suggested they don’t use a duster). We left around 23:00 and found another accommodation nearby, at a similar price, and completely spider‑free. P.S.: The parking situation is a separate matter; saying it’s on a slope like the pyramids of Egypt is a bit much.
