Pongola Poort Safari Camp

A very nice place. The room had a magnificent view and was very comfortable. Attention: this is a hunting reserve! It is a pity that the listing does not mention that it is actually a hunting reserve, which is not to everyone’s taste.

We stayed two nights at Pongola Poort Safari Camp. Looking back, we would have liked to stay longer because of the atmosphere and the peace the camp exudes. It’s wonderful to be in the bush. The accommodation we stayed in had perfect beds and was spotless. The view from our terrace over the bush and the lake was breathtaking. The self‑catering kitchen was also equipped with everything you need to prepare your own meals. The campfire at night with other guests was very cozy and gives a good South African experience, especially with the South Africans themselves. We received a tour from Chris, the owner himself, and were allowed to visit the new area where a glamping camp has been set up with very robust tent chalets that we would love to stay in next time. A visit to Pongola Poort Safari Camp is an absolute recommendation.

“The most perfect spot near Jozini lake - highly recommend!”

The location—beauty, serenity—was just awesome! The only downside was a big spider in the bathroom, but that comes with the territory.

I stayed in an isolated spot right in the heart of a reserve, and the kitchen was fully equipped for making meals. The eco‑lodges matched the conservation vibe of the area, and every activity was offered. The staff were very helpful. The Wi‑Fi connection could have been better, so bring your own toiletries and plug adapters. The lighting in our room didn’t work, but that was only a minor inconvenience for a single night.
