“Decent place in Melk depending on the room you get!”

Friendly staff and nice breakfast, but on our second stay the room was much worse than the first: the mattress was totally worn out and U‑shaped, and the bathroom felt a lot tighter.

The staff were friendly and the breakfast was nice. The room was large with plenty of space. The décor felt a bit dated.

The pension is in the city center, close to a bike path, but the rooms look better in pictures than in reality. The room was very small, cramped, with furniture that I’d seen before. The view from the back was full of grime and bird nests, not pleasant. The bed was unmade; after removing the comforter we found hair, eyelashes, and crumbs, clearly showing that the linen had never been changed. When I asked the man at reception for a change, he argued it wasn’t possible and claimed it was clean. He then sent a maid who confirmed that no one had changed the linen and she did it. The pension feels more like a boarding house and we didn’t feel comfortable. There is a bike rack open all day, accessible to anyone on the street. It locks at night, but it’s better to have your own lock or bring a bike to the room. I would not travel to this place again.

The location is good, but a defective wardrobe door almost wouldn’t open, the mattress had stains, and there was no towel rack or hook.
