Location, price, breakfast, and staff are good. The shower was outside and didn’t close well, and the water pressure was very weak.

Barracuda Beach Hostel in Amed sits directly on pristine white sand, offering a sun terrace and lush garden overlooking turquoise waters. Air‑conditioned rooms feature private baths, balconies with sea views, wardrobes, kitchens, and free WiFi. The on‑site restaurant serves Indonesian, local, and barbecue dishes, while a bar offers cocktails. The location is good, just a short walk to the Jemalung snorkel spot, even in sandals. First‑line, yes, you can have breakfast on the beach. The air‑conditioner is powerful, the shower is large, the bathroom is clean, Wi‑Fi works well, towels are provided. A dryer is in front of the entrance, convenient. Loud music from 8 to 11 pm may be fine for some visitors who enjoy the noise, but it was definitely not my thing. There are gaps along the front door, mosquitoes in the room, and you’ll have to find your own fumigators.

I stayed three nights at a hostel right on the beach, and the staff were friendly, the place was quiet, and overall it was pretty calm. Breakfast always featured tasty pancakes with banana or pineapple and coffee. We booked a double room with a terrace, a bathroom, and air conditioning, and I’d book it again anytime. The only downside was that everything felt a bit old‑fashioned and the beach loungers needed a refresh.

The spot was excellent and peaceful, snorkeling was superb with plenty of turtles, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful—so much so that I decided to extend my stay.

The beachside location was great, with sunbeds, a badminton court, and a billiard table; after two months in Indonesia, this was my favorite place. In the shared dorm, however, the beds were so noisy whenever anyone moved a finger, and there were no hot showers.
