The location was splendid with a view of Piazza delle Erbe, and everything I wanted was offered at a very reasonable price. On Friday night the square was packed with hundreds of people enjoying the evening… and I stayed until 4 am!

The hotel’s location and the view from the room’s piazza were good. The furnishings, cleanliness, the uncomfortable bed, and the bathroom were all poor.

The building is beautiful, and the window overlooking Piazza delle Erbe is gorgeous; breakfast in the alleys is priceless. I hadn’t realized that Saturday night the piazza is very noisy and impossible to sleep in; the room feels monastic.

It was close to a fabulous church, a central fountain, the bus/taxi area, and literally 50 cafés, bars, restaurants, and cafés. The room was big, the bed comfortable, hot water was easy to get, there was a bidet, a TV, but don’t forget your Euro phone charger… the internet was unstable at times. There was no breakfast, and the sign was hard to notice because it was rusted, broken, or old‑looking, not exactly above the absolutely graffiti‑covered door; at least paint it. It was a little noisy as the whole few alleys were filled with hordes of young kids partying till about 2 am. I didn’t like the impromptu Free Palestine parade that cut through the piazza; everyone eating and standing there was aghast.

The location is excellent, right in the heart of Genoa, with bars, restaurants, and a supermarket within reach. Otherwise, it’s a one‑star hotel and should be judged accordingly; for a one‑star it was acceptable. I was there around 10 October and didn’t need air conditioning or heating, so I’m not sure how it feels in summer or winter. It didn’t disturb me, but keep in mind that on weekends there’s a lot of confusion in the area.
