“Keep looking — this ain’t it.”

The bed and room were comfortable, but the experience was marred by poor management. When I arrived, I was handed a key to a room that was already in use—awkward. The hallways were oppressively hot, presumably because they were cutting costs on AC usage, which is crazy in July in St. Louis. This hotel is clearly in steep decline.

“It would be nice if the hallways wasn’t so hot and smelly, and the elevator wasn’t so hot and smelly”

I liked that I could bring my dogs, but I was upset to find out I was charged $75 a day when I thought it was $75 all together for the weekend. The bathroom was disgusting: the walls had pubic hair, a wash rag with pubic hair was left on top of the shower curtain, and when I opened the curtain it fell on me. The sink barely ran, so I couldn't even pee. My wife had to bring a cup to wash the walls down, and the floor was sticky. In the kitchen, the person who was supposed to be cooking was on break the last day we stayed, so there were no eggs or anything in the pot. I tried to get her attention multiple times for hot water and more eggs, but she was busy making omelettes and said she had already put three scrambled eggs in the pot. The breakfast that came with our room wasn't worth it: no juice, no eggs, the bacon was old and hard, no potatoes, oatmeal, or grits—everything was old and stuck to the pan. There were only a couple of pastries and bagels at 8 o’clock. I know it was a full Saturday, but it would have been nice to have food for everyone who arrived at eight, not just the early birds.

“Did not have their best foot forward this stay.”

The location was great. I was given a handicapped room that I loved because it has a walk‑in shower and a shower head on a hose. The temperature control was comfortable, and the pillows and bed were perfect for a good night’s sleep. The person checking me in was super nice and got me checked in quickly. The breakfast was nice. However, there was dead smashed cricket in the shower. The ice machine on my floor was out of order, and the sign didn’t indicate where to find ice. I went to the bar and another customer was getting ice. I asked another employee for ice; he gave it but didn’t seem friendly, and I’m not sure if he understood much English. I didn’t receive a receipt for my room at checkout. The person at the desk when I checked out was the same one from the night before who gave me the ice. Usually I am thanked for staying, but he just motioned for me to hand over the key and was waiting on someone else. I was charged a $100 extra fee that has not been refunded, but it may be too soon.
