Seaside Lodge -18-35 International Backpacker Hostel

“very social”

The staff were friendly and helpful, which made the stay enjoyable. The only hiccup was that the housekeeping seemed a bit inconsistent at times, so some rooms weren't as clean as expected. Overall, a pleasant experience with just a minor lapse in cleaning.

“Dirty sheets and no staff available… dorm was filthy with rotting food everywhere”

The location is spot on—just a short walk to the Strand and Coles. Unfortunately, the room was a mess: the bed had been slept in, no fresh sheets, blood and hair everywhere, and the towel was already used. When we got there, the front desk was empty and we had to call over ten times with no response; the staff said they weren't on site and would “pass the message along.

“Beskidt”

The location and common areas were decent, but the room itself was dirty, as was the kitchen. There was no staff around to help, and the outdoor area was unclean too. Late-night parties kept going until the early hours, and you could hear the noise right from your room.

The shared spaces were spacious, which was a plus. However, the facilities were severely lacking: only six showers and toilets for everyone, a single tiny kitchen with just two burners, and barely enough fridge space or storage. It felt cramped and under-equipped for the number of guests.

The hostel is close to the beach, cafes, and a 30‑minute walk to the marina. Unfortunately, safety was a major issue: a man was caught masturbating in the hostel, and it took over a week for management to remove him. Several guests were robbed at the entrance and faced frequent catcalling, making the area feel unsafe.
