The Ryokan was superb, tucked in the middle of the forest; its different sections, spread out like an orbital station, were linked by long glass corridors, giving the impression of sleeping amid trees. The baths were also very pleasant.

I stayed at a spot that felt completely removed from everything—just a 20‑minute drive from FUKUI into the middle of a forest. The vibe was unique, especially the Onsen that you absolutely have to try; they’re right in front of the woods. After soaking, step out to the side to breathe some fresh air—pure bliss! You’ll want to book dinner and lunch in advance.
