“Wir waren zufrieden.”

The location was excellent; Wallgau is nicely positioned for excursions. Breakfast was good and simple, and the view from the dining room was beautiful. The rooms are a bit old but still clean and cozy. The chef was very nice and gave us great tips, and we got along well with him.

The hotel is beautiful and steeped in history. From the balcony you get a lovely view, and breakfast is provided. It’s a hassle to hand the key over every time you leave the hotel and then pick it up again each time. On top of that, the room’s internet didn’t work.

“eher Mau statt wow !”

The host was friendly and helpful, but the only space we could actually use was the breakfast room; the advertised lovely sun terrace was more of a construction site and completely inaccessible. The whole building feels dated and dark, which isn’t necessarily bad, but the bathrooms—especially ours—were in dire need of renovation because it took forever to get any hot water. The rather Spartan breakfast with stale rolls didn’t appeal to us, especially when considering the price‑to‑value ratio. We can’t recommend it.

At least we were able to leave after three nights. The pictures used for promotion bear no resemblance to reality. The ground‑floor toilets were rundown and either poorly cleaned or not cleaned at all—disgusting. The room was miserable, the bar was locked and inaccessible, as was the terrace. We had to buy wine from Edeka and drink it in the room. Breakfast consisted of hard, pre‑toasted rolls. We were a group of six adult men and were treated by the manager, 65, and his mother like schoolchildren. We tried to book a different hotel on the second day, but everything in the region was fully booked.

The location and conversations with the chef were great; we received useful tips and learned a bit about the area’s history.
