The breakfast was pretty bland, nothing special at all. The only thing that made up for it was when they offered me a hot drink after I’d just finished a 75‑km bike ride in the rain and was freezing. It was a small kindness that helped a lot.

Four cats roamed the place doing whatever they wanted, and the bells kept ringing all night from about 50 m away. There was hardly any breakfast—just two little rolls—so I felt pretty let down.

The host was genuinely friendly and gave great local tips, which I appreciated. However, the room was part of the host’s house, so there was no real private space and the bathroom was shared. On top of that, the house and the room smelled of cigarette smoke, which I wish I'd known beforehand.
