“Your life in their hands”
The bed was comfortable and the bedroom, hallway, and bathroom were all clean. However, the entrance was filthy and full of litter, the front garden was an eyesore, and on arrival I met the owner who was installing a washing machine that continued noisily into the early hours of the next morning. The bedroom was at the rear of the property, not the front as booked, and was a room for two, not three as advertised. The table lamp in the bedroom is a danger to human life; the supply cable to the lamp has an exposed electrical connection, so if a guest were to touch it, depending on footwear, they could receive a severe electric shock or die. The only way to switch this lamp on or off is via the wall socket, which itself is hanging off the wall. In the kitchen, which is clean and well‑planned, the lighting was a floodlight hung up near the kitchen entrance, and the supply cable to this lamp again had a twisted pair of conductors, rendering it electrically dangerous. Another danger in the kitchen was a delicate display of Stanley knife blades hanging from a magnet over the food preparation surface. Finally, I would suggest that the facility stop playing.
