“Il suono del silenzio”

The stay at El Malget in Val di Non starts even before you arrive. The road in the last stretches isn’t always a straight, easy climb; some parts are narrow and need a bit of attention, but a regular car can manage it. That probably helps create the sense of gradually drifting away from everyday life once you get there. El Malget is a true mountain experience: nature, calm, simplicity and especially silence. We stayed in the Stella Alpina room, plain and unadorned, but perfectly in line with the property’s spirit. In my view, you don’t come here for luxury for its own sake, but to live in an authentic environment, rest, and enjoy the mountain. What struck me most was the nighttime quiet—a near‑forgotten silence that encourages thought, slows the pace, and allows you to sleep truly well. Hence the title of this review: “The noise of silence.” The dinner experience was also very positive. The malga starter was great, the meat was very good, and the giardiniera deserves a special mention, a perfect 10. The cuisine is tied to the region, concrete and fitting for the place: products and flavors that don’t need too many embellishments to be appreciated. Overall, El Malget is a place I’d recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful stay in Val di Non, surrounded by nature, away from noise and usual rhythms. It isn’t built to be polished; its value lies in authenticity, simplicity, and the ability to slow down. And once you return to normal life, the thing that probably stays most imprinted is the sound of silence that initially seemed absent. The Stella Alpina room is essential, and a few more comfort details could make it even cozier. If I had to add another small suggestion, I’d enhance the aperitif moment: just a little more would make it more complete and enjoyable. These are just small points within an overall very positive stay.
