The place was perfect for our short stay and visit to the Steinbeck Center—very clean, comfortable, and conveniently located 15 minutes on foot from the station and the center. The only thing that could have been better for us Brits who drink a lot of tea is a kettle and tea bags in the room; the coffee machine isn’t enough for everyone, but otherwise no complaints.

The room was clean with plenty of lighting, though the neighborhood feels questionable. Parking is tight, road noise is constant, and a rude employee charged me three times the rate on Saturday without telling me, plus an extra $260 with no explanation; I won’t be returning.

Accommodation options in Salinas are very limited, so this was probably the best. It isn’t really a lodge, more of a motor court in a gritty area with lots of people, traffic, and food trucks.

The fountain was nice, but the bed and night lamps looked old and worn.
