“Left in the Dark—Literally and Figuratively”
Location. We expected at least a basic welcome, but the reception was empty—just an old, worn‑out table by the stairs. Someone eventually came and pointed us to our room, switched on the AC, and said, “This is your room.” The room lacked towels and toiletries, which was surprising for the rate we paid. Comparable 3‑ to 4‑star Manila hotels offer more amenities, some even with breakfast buffets. During our two‑night stay, there were power outages, which we later learned were common in the area. Jamjen’s Lodge had no generator, unlike other nearby lodges. No updates, no help, no attempt to keep guests informed during the blackout. We were literally and figuratively left in the dark. Overall, the experience didn’t justify the price. We hoped for a relaxing stay but were left disappointed. Management should seriously address these issues and improve service and facilities.
