The breakfast was okay; it was set out in front of the door, but the open food items (cheese, sausage) weren’t covered. The furnishings looked mismatched, some pieces seemed old and unnecessary. A power strip had a damaged outer coating. In the bathroom there was a socket about 1.80 m high, so smaller people could barely use the hair dryer without help. Only two chairs were available for relaxing after a long day, and they were not very comfortable. The overall condition of the room felt fragile: touching anything, like the bathroom skylight, gave the impression it might fall apart.

Haus Umbeer sits in a quiet spot on the outskirts of Schömberg with direct access to lovely hiking trails. The couple are very hospitable, and the garden is a sight to behold. Our room had a balcony, so we could admire countless birds. Breakfast was delivered to our door each morning. We enjoyed the nostalgic charm.
