1 double bed
The hospitality of Luis and Ana was outstanding.
“性價比高”
The island was a nice place to stay, and the host drove us there in the evening with flexible timing. At breakfast we discovered that the room that couldn’t be locked had a lot of tourists coming to the island to take photos, which made me very nervous. At night it was so cold that even with all my warm clothes and gas heating it still felt chilly. Not being able to wash my hair was very frustrating.
“Abzocke”
The view was good. Contrary to the description, there was no electricity, no heating, and no hot water for showers, which is absolutely unacceptable at outdoor temperatures of only 5 °C. The food, priced at 25 Sol, was not only overpriced but also barely edible. I cannot recommend this accommodation under these circumstances. The offered tour to other islands was purely a sales event.
“Acogedor y confortable”
The hosts were welcoming, friendly, and helpful; thanks to Luis and his wife.
“Perfecto para desconectarse y descansar”
If you want to unplug, with no noise and no TV, Isla Uros is the spot. It’s just enough space to read a couple of books, sleep, and unwind. The room had a comfortable bed and pillows, good blankets, and a second bed that we didn’t need because we were two. The place is roomy, with a table, chairs, and a dining area. Outside, there are also chairs and a small couch to enjoy the view from the yard. The view faces the lagoon. There are two cabins on the island, but they don’t communicate, so I didn’t hear any noise. Because of the layout, you can open the curtains from your bed for a great view, but it’s better to close them when sleeping because light comes in. There’s gas heating, so you only need to turn it on for short bursts (about 20 minutes every so often). Since it’s on wheels, you can move it wherever you want. There are sockets, but they’re only for charging phones. The bathroom is large and comfortable. It’s a dry bathroom; you use a small bucket if you’re on the second floor, which is fine because at least the waste doesn’t go into the lagoon. Breakfast is included and decent. Dinner costs extra and is simple—trout, rice, etc.—and it’s offered before 7 pm. You can also bring your own food. They give you a hot water bottle and aromatics. The hosts were very friendly, arranged the tour to Taquiles and the other Uros islands for us, and were attentive to everything we needed. Transport from Puno to the site was included in the room price. Recommendations: It’s very cold, so bring warm clothes. I wore thermal layers and still felt chilly; it took a while to warm up. In the mornings, tourists arrive to visit the island, so if you want privacy, close the curtains. Take time to learn their culture. Living there is tough, cold, and lacks the comforts we have in the city, but they’re very kind and live peacefully. Buying something for them would help their economy. The water never heated. In theory, the pipes froze overnight. I read this in several comments from other places, so it seems common. There are sockets, but only for phones. I wanted to plug in a thermal bag, but the voltage was higher than 24 V.
